Install an extension
Three ways, from the easiest to the most manual. An extension is a small .scrext file: it contains no program, only settings (colors, icons…).
1. From the app (recommended)
- Open Scriptorium in Code mode (Ctrl+Shift+M switches mode).
- Click the puzzle “Extensions” icon in the left bar, or press Ctrl+Shift+X.
- Search or filter by category, then click “Install”.
- For a theme pack: click a theme name (Sylvan dark, Sylvan light…). For icons: “Use these icons”.
Small extensions are already inside the app (offline); the others are downloaded from this site and verified (size and SHA-256 fingerprint) before being installed. The app only contacts this site when you open the Extensions tab.
2. With a downloaded .scrext file
- Download the file from the extensions page.
- Drag it into the Scriptorium window, or open it with File › Open File, or in the Extensions tab click the “Install from a file” icon.
- Scriptorium shows the name, version and author: confirm with “Install”.
3. Manually
Copy the .scrext file into the following folder, then restart Scriptorium:
%APPDATA%\Scriptorium\extensions
Use a language extension
- Code snippets: type the start of the name (e.g. foreach in a PHP file); suggestions appear, Tab or Enter to accept, Tab to jump to the next field. Ctrl+Space forces the list.
- HTML abbreviations (HTML extension): type for example ul>li*3 then Tab.
- Templates: open a folder, then File › New from Template (or Ctrl+Shift+P › “New from template”), choose the template and give it a name.
Enable, disable, uninstall
In the Extensions tab, each installed extension has a “Disable” button (kept but no longer applied) and an “Uninstall” button (the file is deleted). Scriptorium settings (Ctrl+,) and the command palette (Ctrl+Shift+P › “Change color theme”) also let you pick a theme.
Trouble?
- “Invalid or refused extension”: the file is damaged or from an untrusted source. Download it again.
- “Needs a newer version”: update Scriptorium (Arcanes Store).
- Online catalog unavailable: you are offline; built-in extensions can still be installed.
